Thank you for your commitment to community-engaged learning. WCU continues to both deepen and broaden our community-engaged courses. The University has expanded our approach by: 1) refining and retaining the Service-Learning Course designation 2) adding a new course option- the Community Experience Course (CEC). Please review the CCESL Community-Engaged Learning Website for more information about the definitions and criteria of these courses.
This CCESL Course Designation Form serves as both a planning and assessment tool for both service-learning and community experience courses at WCU. Our hope is that it helps prompt new course design ideas, as well as assists in ensuring the integrity of WCU’s community-engaged courses. It should take about 10 minutes to complete. You will need the following:
-descriptors for your course (title, number, etc.)
-brief description of community project/interaction
-draft or working copy of course syllabus
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to CCESL with questions, for a course consultation, or for referrals to community partners. We are here to help and support!
